LAMBS EAR

Soft and supple, fuzzy and furry, velvety and flocked, many words come to mind when one sees and feels Lambs Ear (Stachys byzantina). This little herbaceous perennials is often an easy care favourite in many gardens. The hybrid I have is a dwarf variety that tops out at 1o" when in bloom and is always a real joy in the mixed borders.

When it comes to "tactile" plants, there's nothing like lamb's ears. Impossible not touch them and feel their velvety softness!

Here again is another plant I have looked at but never purchased. Love the look of it before it sends up the flower head. The flower head doesn't impress me very much. I am sure I will break down and purchase it one of these days.

You know I've never liked lamb's ear because of the fuzzy leaves. There's something that just gives me the creeps about it. I wish I didn't feel that way because it is a good plant in the garden.

Fortunately, like mrbrownthumb, deer don't like the fuzzy leaves either -- a requirement in my woodland garden!
