THE BEST DESIGNER I KNOW

With Fall in full glory I often keep my perspective looking out or up enjoying all the colour on the trees and shrubs. But the other day while looking down I discover a nice surprise right before my feet. The above photo is of fallen leaves on my deck. The leaves randomly found their way to this outdoor living space and created a beautiful collage of texture and form. The leaves belong to several large potted maples that are on the deck and natures placement was perfect. In studying it I really felt this would make a great photo for hanging or maybe a pattern for a textile like wallpaper or fabric.
The leaves belong to Acer shirasawanum 'Aureum ' ( the brown leaves), Acerpalmatum 'Sango Kaku' (the yellow leaves), and Acer palmatum 'unknown hybridus' ( the red leaves).

This picture really made me think and realize how nature influences so many things we surround ourselves with. From furniture to textiles, paint colours to interiors, the list is endless.

Nature is the best designer I know.

how pretty! Just showed to my hubby and was wondering if you would send it to me in original size (if you don't mind?) We have a digital picture frame and this would be a perfect pic for our collection there. :-) My email is in my profile. /Andrea

Hear hear! That's an excellent photo, I think ANY form would be cool:watercolor, textile, tile mosaic, whatever. Fall is just so beautiful, like a promise from God that out plants will come back as beautifully as they drifted off to sleep!

Hey Bob, great picture!! Yes mother nature is the great designer. We try and duplicate her and often fall short. This picture would look reproduced as anything. I am thinking fabric, make great pillows!! Thanks for sharing such a wonderful picture. Cliff

Dear Bob!

Hope you are doing fine! Sorry I havn't been here for quite a while!

I have great news: my new rose border will soon get its first roses (at least I hope so). Yesterday evening, I made my choice, here's the list:

- rosa muscosa
- Queen of Denmark
- Jacques Cartier
- Fantin Latour
- Mme Boll
- Souvenir de la Malmaison

Well, they are all old roses and they are all soft pink. I'll try to order them from Kordes tomorrow. It's a very famous German rose-grower, to you know this company?

By the way, do you have and of these ones in your garden too and would you recomment them?

Have a great Sunday - although it's almost over!

Best wishes from Germany,
Anita

Oh . . . I miss fall foliage. Not much in Florida. What a nice perspective you have on life. Many people would only see something else to rake or sweep, while you see nature at her finest and take the time to capture and share it with us. Thanks!

Great shot. Isn't it funny at how much we'll work to arrange something just so, when the perfect arrangement just happens naturally? Hope this wasn't our last beautiful weekend. - Paula

AMEN to that!! Nature is the best designer.. I look for colors to do crafts and paint in, because it is the most soothing and the nature color wheel is always right. It would make a great fabric, I agree with Cliff!!!!

You're right that nature is the best designer. There's a program or two on the web that you can use to choose colors for your websites or blog based on the colors in a photograph.
