The peonies are in full bloom now and with Junes persistent misty weather the blossoms tend to get weighted down with all the dew. As you can see I'm not always the best when it comes to staking them up. I still have the peony cages folded up in the garage.
Still, lovely to see them in bloom.
Beautiful peonies!! Mine will not bloom and I have even had a friend check to see if they were planted too deep. I have decided to find a new spot for them. Great blog, btw. I have been coming by ways of Midwest Garden. Greetings from Germany, Andrea
ReplyDeleteThanks Andrea, Yes it sounds like they are planted to deep or they are not getting enough sun. In addition, Peonies do not like to be moved. So if they are in a new location they sometimes take up to 2 years to get their feet in the ground. When you relocate them, plant them high.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind words, and fell free to ask any questions.
All the best, Bob
bob, there's something about a blowsy, floppy flower in the garden that just can't be beat! I love the look of your uncaged peonies. I saw some over the weekend that were caged to within an inch of their life and they looked just like they had been grown in a vase! I'll take your look any day!
ReplyDeleteHey Bob,
ReplyDeleteNice blog and I have to second Andrea-the Peonies are wonderful.
Great place for the Peonie cages!! I thought I was the only one who didn't get around to everything on the list. I love my Peonies. I planted some 5 years ago and this is the first year that I got a good show out of them. I bought several new ones for this year and they are still in the pots. There just aren't enough hours in the day!
ReplyDeleteI really understand, recently my partner and I broke up, so this year I've spent a lot more time in the garden. It's been great therapy.
ReplyDeleteSomething about working in the dirt. The garden has been benefitting more due to some extra time on my hands.
But I still forgot the cages :<
Bob
Sorry to hear about the break up. Break ups are never easy no matter what end you are on. I have been lucky, my partner and I have been together for over 7 years now. He is not the gardening type which is nice. That way I can do as I please in the garden.
ReplyDeleteGardening is my therapy also.
